- Here’s An Opinion On:
- Sports Betting
Every sports has a different style of odds to master, and for every online bookmarking sites you see on the internet you will find different sports betting odds offer. If you love college football game, it has no difference with the basketball odds. NCAA football betting odds also consist of three different types of bets: point spread, moneyline, and totals.
Point spread is the most common type of bet. With this bet, you have to predict who you think will cover the point spread set by the oddsmaker. For instance, you are watching the game between the Missouri and the Texas A&M, and the spread on this game is 7 points. You will see the NCAA football betting odds like this:
Missouri +8
Texas A&M -8
If you are betting on the spread and you pick the Texas A&M to win, you are saying that they are going to win by more than 8 points. Incidentally, betting on the Missouri is saying that the Missouri will lose by less than 8 points.
Another popular type of bet is the Money line, which are commonly used by bettors who have large bankrolls and can afford the peculiar prices that are sometimes put down on a team. So, be careful when betting on money line as they usually come real pricey. Make sure that you have enough money to spend with this bet (e.g. -1500 for a great team, +1500 for a bad team). When betting for money line, you just have to place who you think will win or lose the game, no points to considerate.
So how will you read the NCAA football betting odds in a Money line bet? Simple! The team that has a negative sign indicates that it is the favorite team which is likely to win the game, while the positive sign refers to the underdog team or the team which is more likely to lose the outright of the game. Betting on the favorite team shows the amount that you need to risk in order to win $100, while betting on the underdog indicates the amount of money you can win in every $100 bet.
Lastly, are the Totals bets. This bet are based upon whether you believe the combined scores of the two teams involved will go over or under whatever the posted total for that game is. Totals usually fluctuate by 0.5 points. The more money that comes in on a game total of 57 will drive that total up higher, say to 57.5 or 58. If the money is coming in on the under, the total will move down to 56.5 or 56.
